Dear RCC Supporter, On Tuesday, April 8th in Gloster, Mississippi, a fateful environmental justice decision will be made. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Permit Board will vote on a permit that would allow Drax, the wood pellet mega-producer and known polluter, to expand their operations in the small town. We need your help in showing up for Gloster residents who are fighting their polluters. There are many ways to support, for both Mississippians and environmental justice allies who live in other states. If you are in Mississippi, we’re asking you to attend the public hearing and rally (RSVP here!) AND contact your elected officials using this sample language. We need to demand that our representatives protect Gloster residents. If you are NOT in Mississippi, we’re asking you to contact Governor Tate Reeves and ask him to request the permitting board put residents’ health over profits. Send him your message here! You can find more information at the attached graphic made by our friends in Greater Greener Gloster – the grassroots community group that sprang up to respond to Drax’s industrial pollution and environmental racism in Gloster. You can contact Greater Greener Gloster at this email address: info@greatergreenergloster.com. Thanks for standing up for environmental justice with us. The fight continues in Gloster and around the US against big, bad biomass. | |
