The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) threatens drinking water for 17 million people including the Standing Rock Sioux and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. The DAPL threatens Tribal fishing, hunting and water rights, and is equivalent to the emissions from more than 42.4 million gas-powered cars or 51 coal-fired power plants. The Rachel Carson Council (RCC) opposes the DAPL and stands in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. They have led the fight to stop the destruction of their ancestral lands and of our climate. Join us and stand in support of the Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Sioux by taking action directly with their action alert here. Send a public comment and tell the Army Corps of Engineers that you want the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) shut down NOW and you want a proper environmental impact study carried out! | |
